Always a mesmerizing time when Luis Vasquez and the Soft Moon come into town to play an evening of dark and sinister music.
What make Luis Vasquez and the Soft Moon’s performance even more special: It was held at the intimate studios of JBTV Music Television in River North Chicago.
Criminal, the latest release from The Soft Moon that brings Luis Vasquez out for this brief North American Tour, has punched up his music another notch (If that’s humanly possible), and let loose with the most in – your – face Soft Moon album yet.
The songs are so strong and to the point, made even more glorious live with his two outstanding backup musicians: Luigi Pianezzola on Bass, and Matteo Vallicelli on drums and all manners of percussion.
Luis Vasquez is surrounded by all types of musical instruments: everything from a brand new Gibson electric guitar, to synths, bongos and of course his trusty upside down metal garbage can, which he literally beats the living crap out of.
Luis Vasquez’s presence on stage is riveting- constantly presenting the fury and rage that lies beneath his songs.
Luis howls and yelps into his microphone, over rambunctious and pulsating beats throughout.
I can’t say enough how much I enjoy Luis Vasquez and The Soft Moon- treating us at JBTV to an intimate performance of thoroughly dark and mesmerizing and pummeling music.
