Having seen this labor of love – “Industrial Accident: The Story of Wax Trax! Records” three times now: it’s safe to say that this loving tribute to Jim Nash and Dannie Flesher, the iconic store on Lincoln Avenue in Chicago, the venerated label and the folks who ran it, let alone Julia Nash and her husband Mark Skilicorn…this beautiful and touching film gets better and better with repeated viewings.
Every aspect of the film, and the event it’s shown in no matter where who and what- it’s such a reunion of sorts, all splendid all fun, and a pleasure beyond words to document.
Can’t say enough about the label and how much its meant to me over the years, and the people related to the label and store, both employees and patrons.
We’re all one big crazy family of misfits- all older obviously, but still nuts and living life to the fullest and sharing in the beauty that is Wax Trax! Records.
The Logan Theatre, home turf for Bryan Wendorf and the Chicago Underground Film Festival..what a beautiful theatre in the heart of Logan Square.
It truly was a magical evening, with not only the screening of the film, but also the short Q&A with Julia Nash, Mark Skilicorn, Chris Connelly and Sean Joyce.
Such wonderful and amazing and talented people all. Like family.
The documentary is premiering all over the place in the states, the latest announcement being in New York City on July 28th.
I suggest if you’re in the area at that time, or somewhere hobnobbing on the East Coast: by all means go. Get your ass to witness this documentary on things Wax Trax! firsthand.
You won’t be disappointed.
