JBTV Studio Presents:
Bootblacks, with a special live performance and taping on Saturday May 4th.
Brooklyn based post- punk band Bootblacks have been dazzling audiences with their powerful and incendiary live performances since their beginnings back in 2010.
In 2018 they added festivals such as the mighty Wave Gotik Treffen, A Murder Of Crows and Return to the Batcave onto their impressive resume of past shows that are worthy of our attention.
Bootblacks are the real deal: Punchy in your face records, compelling performances with unstoppable live energy to boot, and swirling shroud of mystery surrounding their craft.
Their latest record FRAGMENTS is a meditation on life and loss, set to a sinister Darkwave backdrop of compelling beats and chiming guitars.
The band find themselves expanding on their already eclectic sonic territory, combining wicked dance floor edge, with anthemic power chords that are over the top awesome in scope.
Guitarist Alli Gorman channels heavy shoe gazey / chimey guitars to stand alone amongst the heavy synth sounds from Barrett Hiatt, while lead vocalist Panther Macdonald holds court front and center with a vocal range that twirls and confronts, with biting introspections and yelps that give you chills.
Add to this the punishing backbeats and solid drumming chops from Larry Gorman, the kind of guy who wakes up every morning thinking about drumming, and drumming some more.
This is a band that knows how to push boundaries, and cut across genres at a moment’s notice.
A band that can hang tight in the company of Clan of Xymox, The Chameleons, Bauhaus, and dare i say Joy Division.
In good company, and most definitely worthy of your attention.
And on a Saturday afternoon in the cozy confines of JBTV Music Television, BOOTBLACKS holds court, and for the select few that are present to witness them live, this will go down as a show that will be remembered for years to come.
Hope you dig the pictures, with their close friends from the band ACTORS in tow, and most of all: check these guys out when they come back in the fall to Cold Waves at the Metro Chicago.
Not to be missed- all things BOOTBLACKS.
Cheers- Bobby Talamine – Music Photographer
