MY LIFE WITH THE THRILL KILL KULT

with special guests Conformco and B13 (Biocarbon 13)
WIRE – Berwyn, ILL

it’s been over thirty years since My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult’s “Confession of a Knife”? 30 years have passed- and it still sounds so fresh and dangerous and lively.
Talk about trailblazers in all things sexy and sleazy and downright kickass fun- Groovie Mann and Buzz McKoy still throw down the gauntlet with such panache and ease- no matter the venue, no matter the city.
It’s a throwback of sorts- for their fans to play dressup, and the for the band to provide the extra ooomph to get the party started.
And from the get go- no need for idle chit chat between songs. Let’s just rip into the set, and come along everyone for the bumpy ride that’s about to ensue.
Damn, how I love this vibe of carefree, let loose, down and dirty and embrace the edgy unease that permeates the listening room at Wire in Berwyn.
Clearly the band was focused on the task at hand- what with Mami Soto keeping the low end in check on bass, Justin Bennett on all sorts of percussion, and of course Arena Rock providing backup vocal and needed dance vibes as one of the cool Bomb Gang Girls.
Groovie Mann still comes off as cool as ever- commanding center stage and a wicked presence of all things dark and sinister, with Buzz McCoy bringing the overload of sexy beats to your heart’s content.
Truly and always- a show not to be missed- ever.
Relish in all things TKK my friends. Like I’ve said a million times- It’s Groovie Mann’s world baby- and you’re lucky to be living in it.
Opener Conformco – consisting of Industrial stalwarts Sean Payne and Chris Harris bring the hard and heavy (but with some swing) the industrial beats and noise- times ten.
Albeit a rather short set- but nevertheless a commanding presence – Sean and Chris- feeding off each other’s chaotic and in the moment vibe, and unrelenting punishment of the hard and heavy.
Love these guys.
Biocarbon 13 (B13) opened the show with an electro industrial dance vibe- this is a band from Chicago who clearly started the night giving the fans a kick in the right direction before the headliners.
