Now more than ever, we need artists as talented and multi directional like Grandson.
Jordan Edward Benjamin (Grandson), covers a lot of ground in his music and songwriting.
Yes, there are clearly comparisons to Rage Against The Machine in angst and might, but not evident and as upfront as you might think. He has a style in vocal rage at times that fits into the mold of Zack de la Rocha, but it’s not full bore and go for broke like a lot of Rage songs. Grandson’s take is more subdued and refined, backed by a band that can pack a wallop when provoked.
Grandson was raised in Toronto, Canada, after being born in New Jersey.
Grandson’s musical inspirations are all over the map, again with the obvious RATM, plus Ray Charles, Bob Marley, John Lennon, and Nirvana.
Grandson’s music is politically charged, fueled by the current dysfunctional political climate and unpredictability.
Makes for great songwriting, in my opinion.
Hard to navigate in this unpredictable world, and find peace and serenity, especially when you’re an observant and present musician, like Grandson is.
Grandson confronts pressing issues of his generation through his songwriting, such as financial inequality, governmental issues, environmental accountability, and social injustice.
All topics are heavy hitters, and a lot to question and pontificate on.
As Grandson so proudly states: “I genuinely believe the world needs honest rock n’ roll, now more than ever”.
Yep, well said.
Well again, we need artists like Grandson now more than ever.
